Commercial invoice: required fields (quick checklist)
- Seller (exporter) name + full address + contact
- Buyer (importer) name + full address + contact
- Consignee (if different)
- Invoice number + invoice date
- Purchase order reference (if available)
- Currency
- Incoterms (EXW/FOB/CIF/DDP etc.) + named place
- Line item description (clear, not marketing words)
- HS code (if known) + country of origin
- Quantity + unit of measure
- Unit price + total line value
- Total invoice value
- Reason for export (sale, sample, return, repair, etc.)

The 5 mistakes that cause delays
- Descriptions like “gift”, “parts”, “accessory”, “sample” without function/materials
- Missing country of origin (manufacture origin, not shipping origin)
- Currency missing or inconsistent across docs
